For Product Owners
As of July 2022, the salary of a Product Owner in Ukraine ranges from $66,000 to $108,000 per year (data taken from Djinni.com). In the US, the average annual salary of a Product Owner ranges from $68,316 for a beginner to $108,000 for an experienced specialist (according to CareerKarma, 2021).
The Product Owner role is really valuable. The Product Owner directly affects the organization’s activities as an intermediate link between the development team and external and internal stakeholders.
How to become a Product Owner?
A good Product Owner is a person with a strategic vision and the ability to convey it in words. To make it easy, you need to develop some skills.

Vision and communication
The task of the Product Owner is to generate ideas relevant to business and customer needs and bring them to life, communicating to developers and advocating to stakeholders.

Speak and listen
Like any other role in management, the role of Product Owner depends a lot on your ability to communicate an idea. And the quality of your work with the Scrum Team rests on the ability to listen and hear their suggestions, problems, and needs.

- Read Scrum Guide.
- Read some books. To get started, you can take “Scrum Pocket Guide” by Gunter Verheyen and “Soft in 30 Days” by Ken Schwaber. Next, read the Professional Product Owner, The: Leveraging Scrum as a Competitive Advantage by Don McGreal and Ralph Jocham.
- Attend several trainings. They will help you quickly and compactly study a huge amount of material, guide you in the right direction and prepare you for certification.

How do the classes take place?
We conduct trainings in an interactive form according to the principle “history — discussion — theory — practice — conclusions”. We use collaborative visualization tools and can work both individually and in small and large groups.
Very often, after the main training, we hold follow-up meetings where we discuss the results of our changes after the training and work on mistakes and challenges encountered in real life.
What level of knowledge is required to get into training?
Well, it depends. The list of trainings by difficulty is published above. Junior level trainings are suitable for everyone, even those without experience in Agile and management. Some trainings can be beneficial regardless of your level, so we recommend them to everyone from juniors to architects.
How is practice organized as part of training?
Each section and each topic, regardless of the training, is accompanied by practical tasks — paired, individual, and group. We analyze the results of the exercises together, consolidating the understanding of what has been learned.
During practical tasks, questions often arise regarding the steps to implement the acquired knowledge and how to use the tools in work. We spend time on this as well.

Can I take the course without knowledge of the English language?
We conduct trainings in Ukrainian, English, and Russian. However, the certification tests are only available in English. Thus, you will be able to complete the training, but it is more difficult to pass the test and get a Scrum.org or Scaled Agile certificate without knowledge of English.
Will I get a certificate?
You get the Management 3.0 certificate for listening to the training, you don’t need to take additional exams.
Scrum.org and Scaled Agile certifications require confirmation in the form of taking a test.
With each Scrum.org training, you get two attempts at the corresponding certification test. Without the training, they will cost between $150 and $250 each.
Scaled Agile does not allow people who did not participate in the training to take the exams.
The knowledge gained during the training greatly increases the chances of passing the test and receiving a certificate. We recommend reading articles and guides in English in parallel with the training, before and after it, writing out all unfamiliar terminology, and using Magdalena Firlit’s tips. Do not postpone the exam: the knowledge gained during the training is erased over time.
